Nashua, NH, June 28, 2005 – Ezenia! Inc. (OTCBB:EZEN.OB), a leading market provider of secure real-time collaboration solutions for government networks and eGovernment, announced today that the Company has been selected to provide a secure Internet collaboration solution for the Health Officers Association of California (HOAC).
This secure Internet solution includes Ezenia InfoWorkSpace (IWS) software linking California Public Health Officers within 58 counties and 3 cities and providing effective collaboration in a secure, information-sharing network. Using InfoWorkSpace HOAC officers and/or physicians, on assignment in the field, can now access, share and collaborate on critical information in real-time. In a secure and protected environment, this collaborative exchange of information will dramatically reduce decision cycles involving public safety and provide an archive of documented results in response to natural, environmental and man-made public health threats.
California Public Health Officers are recognized as important members of the first responder community, addressing intentional events and an ever-growing array of public health emergencies. Most recently, its mission has been significantly complicated by the challenges posed by acts of biological terrorism and the increasing threats posed by infectious diseases entering the state from around the world.
Phase I of the project, with the participation of 17 counties, began in April 2005 with the target of having 3,000 Physicians and/or Public Health Officers on the network by Phase III. Roger Rosenberg, Project Manager for HOAC, stated “Ezenia and Verizon will provide the HOAC Physician Health Officers with the connectivity and flexibility required to respond effectively in time of crisis.”
“InfoWorkSpace, with its proven track record of deployment and scalability within the most stringent secure collaboration environments of the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community, is uniquely suited to support and satisfy the needs and requirements by the HOAC, a critical organization within the Public Health sector at the state level,” said Harry B. Heisler, Vice President and General Manager of Ezenia Government Systems. “While the HOAC activities currently take place in the largest state of the Union, we see an exciting opportunity of growth with our flagship product, InfoWorkSpace, serving the Public Health market sector,” further remarked Mr. Heisler. “We are encouraged with the size of the HOAC opportunity and see additional potential as this Public Health momentum will undoubtedly spread into other state and local governments.”
